Just around the corner from Cashiers, you'll find a delightful spot known as "Sliding Rock," a charming natural slide crafted by the gentle flow of the Chattooga River over a smooth, 10-foot high rock face. This spot has become a favorite amongst locals, especially during the warm summer months, thanks to its refreshingly cool waters.
Slip, Slide, and Splash:
Whether you're looking to glide down the rock, make a splash with a cannonball into one of the inviting potholes, or simply enjoy a leisurely wade in the pool below, there's something for everyone to enjoy. It's a wonderful place to cool off and escape the summer heat, providing endless fun for families and adventure-seekers alike.
A Family-Friendly Paradise:
Our family found this hidden gem to be the perfect retreat! The kids couldn’t get enough of sliding down the rock and eagerly climbing back up for another go, while the river bed below offered a fantastic opportunity for exploration. Even our furry family member approved, taking great pleasure in the cool mountain waters.
Cashiers Sliding Rock is tailor-made for family fun, boasting a fabulous natural water slide that feeds into a deep-ish pool, surrounded by perfect shallows for splashing both above and below the slide. Venture upstream a little, and you'll even discover another charming waterfall. It’s an idyllic spot for families with children to play and make a splash.
A Local Favorite:
This spot has long been a beloved destination for kids, offering easy access, refreshing waters, and a great atmosphere for mingling with others. With two entrance points, it's conveniently located, though be aware that there is no signage to mark
your arrival, and parking is available roadside.
The Slides and More:
The slides themselves are nothing short of amazing, featuring a couple of deep pools and plenty of spaces to sit back and relax. While there are no restroom facilities on site, the natural beauty and fun atmosphere make it well worth a visit if you're in the area.
A Place to Cool Off and Enjoy:
This place is truly fantastic! Despite the chilly waters, the endless sliding fun is completely free of charge and safe for kids of all ages. Don't be deceived by the Jacuzzi-like deep holes in the middle of the slides – the water is cool there too! We found ourselves drawn back to this spot time and time again, staying for hours on end.
Worth the Trip:
Even with the ice-cold mountain water, this spot is so much fun and definitely worth the trip, especially for a second visit. Just a short walk from the road, though parking is limited. Be mindful that the rocks can be incredibly slippery; water shoes with good grip are recommended. For an added touch of fun and safety, consider bringing along a cheap inflatable tube for the kids to enjoy the rock slide.
