The Scenic Valley Trail Description
On this SCENIC VALLEY TRAIL ride you will leave the Stables, which is about 3800 ft elevation, for a magical journey through hardwood forests that descend into The SCENIC VALLEY down to 3400 ft elevation. It is a picturesque valley filled with a small lake, flowing creeks, streams and open meadows.
Next you will ride through a tunnel of rhododendron before ascending the mountain via Rough Run Stream. It is a gentle stream with mini cascading falls all the way up the hill. People love listening to that flowing water! Then you merge into the Fern Forest with its meandering trail back to the Stables at 3800ft of elevation. Plan at least 3 hours for your total experience. This includes the Safety Program and your Trail Time.
Meet your guide at Arrowmont Stables and Cabins on the northwest end of Lake Glenville about a mile from the lake. It's only a 20 minute drive from Cashiers, NC. At this 200-acre (80-hectare) working horse farm you’ll get acquainted with equine behavior and riding tips during a 50-minute safety program via training video and/or live demonstration.
